Character Info

◎ Character's Name: Shishiou
◎ Character's Canon: Touken Ranbu
◎ Character's Age: 1000+
◎ Character's PB: Here!
◎ Canon Point: World 4
◎ Background/History: Touken ranbi wiki + Shishiou's page + His owner's wiki + Nue extermination history which has a rough summary of how Shishiou's master acquired him! The story of how Shishou's master, Minamoto no Yorimasa, came to acquire Shishou is written in The Tale of Heike, a book that tells of the story of the struggles between the Taira and Minamoto clan. From what we know, Shishou was a sword made by a blacksmith from the Yamato Province (although his name is unknown), and given to Minamoto no Yorimasa by Emperor Konoe. According to the story, the Emperor would begin to feel ill everyday at exactly 2 am and dark clouds would begin to loom over the castle. Followed by this would be a cry heard from the skies. Naturally, they thought it was a curse, but they were unable to break the curse despite calling to the priests for help. With no other option they decide to turn to Yorisama for help, asking him to exterminate the creature in order to save the Emperor. Yorisama, of course, helps the Emperor and waits for the demon to appear that night and what emerges that night is a demon that is said to have a head of a monkey, the body of a fox, the tail of a snake, and the limbs of a tiger called Nue (as you can see, Shishiou is wearing it in his design). Yorimasa manages to kill the Nue, and in turn, cures the Emperor from his illness. Therefore, to reward him, the sword Shishiou was gifted to him and although he's a taichi, he's made smaller to match his Master's size. In history, his master eventually was forced to commit seppuku but luckily Shishiou was too small to be used for this. He's been through multiple masters since (with the timeline being: Emperor Takakura - Genzanmi Yorimasa - Hitoshi-mura Masahiro - Tokugawa Ieyasu - Toki Yorichika - East Kuze Tsuki - Emperor Meiji), and eventually ends up in the Tokyo National Museum. From here we fall into Touken Ranbu canon where the Saniwa Sage (A.K.A. YOU) bring him to life in order to fight against evil and rewrite history.

◎ Is the character a hacker and/or do they have a sixth-sense? Not a hacker, but as a tsukumogami so he definitely has a sixth sense and can see spirits!

◎ Personality:

"My name is Shishiou. I look cool, but since I was meant to be given to an old man, I was made to be light. Well, that shows the kindness of the giver!" Right off the bat, it's easy to see that Shishiou is a confident fellow, voicing immediately in his introduction that he looks cool and later even asking if you agree as a rhetorical question. But an interesting note is what comes after. Shishiou is a tachi but since he is smaller than normal tachis, he is pretty conscious about his height. However, he doesn't hide behind this small insecurity, able to speak of it without a problem with plenty of respect shown toward the Emperor to go along with it. He's pretty open about his feelings, and it's easy to tell what he's thinking because he either tells you or he tells you with his facial expressions and body language as a dead giveaway. And as a tachi, he doesn't lack confidence, rather he's energetic, flashy, and always eager to take the lead. When put in formation he would voice his thoughts about wanting to be captain, unless he is appointed captain to which he would say "hell yeah"! For Shishiou it would only be natural for him to win, and when he does get hurt he's even surprised! That's not suppose to happen.

"How is it? Did you see it!? I'll be even more active, so use me a lot, okay!" Excitable and eager, in many ways he can be like a cat (or a lion, if you will) that likes to rub against your leg, telling you to pay attention to him and give him a lot of pets praise. Shishiou is definitely not one that would want to be left out of anything, whether it'd be on the battle field or something fun. If it's anything that sounds fun or can make him stronger or cooler, he's definitely in! Since he's a really old sword from the 1100's, he's curious and easily excited about seeing new things and making new experiences. When he enters the store he mentions that it's his first time shopping in a store, thrill filling his voice. He enjoys praise and attention and in many ways acts like a child even if he is 1000+ years old. In many ways he can seem too easygoing and not serious enough particularly when they are not on the battlefield, making it sound like training is a pain and even suggesting a man-hunt when it's time to work in the fields. Basically anything that are internal affairs, therefore chores, sound like a pain. However, the keyword to focus on when speaking of his cheerful personality is "not on the battlefield" because on the battlefield, he takes everything 120% seriously.

After becoming a tsukumogami he was retrieved from the museum to join in a battle for justice. For one thing he was glad to be out of there and given a new purpose, but he also knows the importance of war and he wouldn't be a good leader if he didn't. With a strong sense of justice, Shishiou would give it his all if he believed in what he was fighting for and the tone in his voice shows it, much different from his more carefree self during downtime. However, that's not all. Although Shishiou is one who likes to show off and lead the troops, he knows that he has to rely on his comrades as well. He's not one that would be foolish enough to think he can take on everything on his own, showing that he knows the importance of trust, respect, and friendship. "Don't let 'em say the lion's head makes the dance! I'm counting on you!"

"Let's go! In the name of the old man!" As a last note there is someone that Shishiou often refers to as old man in his lines, which would be Yorisama, his first owner. Over the years since the death of Yorisama, he has gone through the hands of many different owners, but it's clear that his bonds with his first Master is the strongest and he hasn't forgotten about him and underneath that cheerful exterior is sentimental heart. Sometimes he would mistakenly call the Saniwa "Old man" and feel embarrassed from it.

◎ Powers/Abilities: Stats! As an embodiment of an actual sword, there's no way Shishiou wouldn't have a fine ability in swordmanship. As a tachi, they are said to have high HP, impact and leadership skills" but have "low mobility, scouting and camouflage skills". The other thing is that since he is a tsukumogami his life is connected to his sword and while he can possible be hurt physically, it's nothing compared to the damage dealt on his sword form. Any chips or scratches of any kind would show up on his body but he'll be okay as long as his sword goes into repair. Make him shiny!

◎ Weapons & Other Special Inventory: He will be bringing his sword, the clothes on his back + the nue, and an extra change of clothes!
CEREALIA-Specific

◎ Element: Air
◎ Sense: Touch | As a sword, being used and wielded is most important and Shishiou expresses that pretty clearly. This also ties in to his time at the museum since Shishiou would rather be by the side of his Master than sitting alone in some dusty old museum.
◎ Seven Character Traits: (+ energetic, loyal, strong sense of justice) (- boastful, laid back, playful) + sentimental
